2021

Brian and I really hit it off and kept in touch for a while after this interview. Since then, he’s been busy drumming with various bands, including Nine Inch Nails and the Violent Femmes, and many others. The Dresden Dolls had plans to record a new album and start touring again in 2020, but that was postponed due to COVID. Hopefully the coast will be clear for them to return to the studio soon.

2008

The Dresden Dolls are Amanda Palmer (vocals, keyboards) and my guest, Brian Viglione (drums). Their unique brand of “Brechtian Punk Cabaret” has earned them a huge and devoted following worldwide, but they make their homes in the Boston area. With or without makeup, he is a doll indeed! Fans may like to know that Brian is also drumming for The World/Inferno Friendship Society.

About the interview

I hadn’t met Brian before this interview, but there’s nothing like spending a day cooking together to fire up a friendship. We were BFF by the time the kahlua cupcakes were out of the oven!
